We are delighted by the interest in our FoodTOURS, and look forward to having you or your friends join us soon on an upcoming Globetrotting Gourmet® trip to Asia.

Our next two tours for 2003 are ten days in Bali, from 30 Aug to 9 Sept. (with an optional Singapore/Malacca extension from 9-12 Sept.) and a repeat of our popular 15-night Thai regional foods tour from 31 Oct-15 Nov. This latter tour coincides with two regional festivals, amongst the Khmer ruins of Phimai in Thailand's remote Isan province, and the beautiful lantern holiday of Loi Krathong in the ancient capital of Sukhothai in the kingdom's Northwest. (There is also an optional Cambodian extension to the fabled ruin of Angkor wat from 17-20 Nov.)
As these are early days, there are still seats available for these tours - which leads us to our prize offer at Montreal. We want to make everyone a winner who takes our Bali tour! Consequently, if you sign up anytime between now and 15 June with a paid deposit of $200 per person, we will give you ABSOLUTELY free the Bali Experience, valued at $295! This package includes two FREE nights in Bali at the three-star Vila Rasa Sayang hotel, FREE island transportation with the Bali Bus Pass, FREE parasailing plus boat ride at gorgeous Benoa beach, FREE global internet roaming with iPass, so that you can keep up with the world while away, plus more. This ABSOLUTELY FREE two day extension is a great jet lag remedy to take prior to our actual food tour. Otherwise, you can use this extension afterwards, enjoying more time for shopping, or to return to favorite destinations by using the island shuttle. We wish we could offer you even more enticement, but these Bali trips are truly BELOW cost. We are working in conjunction with Bali tourism and leading hotels to get foreign tourists back to the island, so they can attest for themselves about the situation here. It is our way to get the word out that Bali is back in business! We love these islanders, and this island, and we promise that you will leave Bali feeling you have visited paradise.
While we offer only a couple Globetrotting Gourmet® FoodTours annually, each is especially developed as a fun, unique adventure with the discerning traveller in mind. We stray off the beaten track to discover a country's culture through its food, opening doors to places that the individual tourist finds inaccessible without knowledge of the local area and language. While we pride ourselves in our deluxe level of accommodation, we also include unique, boutique locations that are sometimes preferable to the international hotel experience. Likewise, foods encompass both royal court banquets to street hawker fare. It is all part of the pleasure in travel.
These tours are small group affairs, strictly limited to no more than 16 persons, a size we find ideal. They are fully escorted by myself Robert Carmack, and partner Morrison Polkinghorne, plus a local translator. Our tours are inclusive: that means all transportation, from private coach to airport transfers, and internal Asian airfares where noted, are included in these packages. Naturally, daily breakfast plus most meals. (In all honesty, you will be tasting so much!) But there is much, much more, from a complementary luxury massage on arrival, to escorted tours of fabled sites, entry fees, walks through village markets discovering local foods and crafts, and special cooking demonstrations. Be prepared to don an apron! These are tours geared for everybody, layman and food professional alike.
But most importantly, our tours begin and end in Asia. These trips are marketed internationally, and we consequently attract a cosmopolitan group from Europe, America and Australia. Although you pay our tour operator San Michele directly for the Globetrotting Gourmet® FoodTour package, use your own local travel agent to arrange flights and insurance from your country of origin. Better yet, many past participants have cashed in mileage points to meet us in Asia. And don't hesitate to ask us for advice on favorite airlines, best routes, etc. That is part and parcel of the personal attention we pride ourselves in. Our tour operator San Michele Travel takes care of the rest, ensuring that your tour package is covered by this reputable, fully-licensed agency operator of 35 years experience.
Please get back to us about any special needs, requirements, or for general questions. Although we market our tours exclusively through San Michele Travel, we are independent operators. We strive to give you efficient, yet personal, service. But we are a small operation. If we don't get back to you immediately, it is probably because Morrison and I are scouting new ports afar. We try to respond to our emails regularly -- but in some parts of the world, daily access isn't possible.
Again, we thank you for your interest, and look forward to putting a face to your correspondence. In the meantime, check out more about our tours on: www.asianfoodtours.com
