Hilton Scottsdale Resort and Villas, Arizona. We were attending the nearby Scottsdale Culinary Festival in April, which is at the ritzy end of Phoenix, so expected a lot more. Check in staff rudely reminded us that we purchased our stay through a discount supplier (PriceLine), which quite frankly, shouldn’t make a difference. Stick to the upstairs rooms in this split level resort, as the high beamed ceilings gives you a greater feeling of space. Premier rooms facing the pool suffer an onslaught of hard rock music, and on Sunday when the management seem to be on leave, the decibels literally blared into our rooms. Quite a change from the string quartet playing the day before. Wireless service is middling, and regularly cuts off – so why the $10 a day charge when they can’t guarantee service? Maid forgot to restock sugar one day, clean glasses another, but we received both prompt and polite response after we objected. Newspaper delivery over a week was haphazard. And a request to meet he GM was never followed through. Gym and spa, located in an adjacent building across the car park, is an afterthought. Mostly treadmills, scant weights, and the sauna never heats up, although the steam room is good. |
