Terms: We pride ourselves in the level of our accommodation. Expect 4-5 star comfort throughout, although be aware that you are travelling well off the beaten path, many times in isolated areas. When we locate a small, boutique property, or one with a special character - albeit at a lower standard - we will advise. Meals cover all standards, from royal cooking to humble street hawker fare, as this is a food tour to discover the country's culture through its cuisine. All flights, transfers, accommodation and most meals are included, except where otherwise indicated. All beverages are not included. Entry to specific museums and the like are included, including to the Angkor complex (US$20 per day p/p), except where noted otherwise.
While airport taxes are included, specific departure taxes are not. These include 500 Bhat (payable only in Thai bhat; about US$12/Euro 12/AUD $25) when departing Bangkok/Sukhothai for Laos, and again at the end of your tour when returning home); US$10 Laos departure tax and US$25 Cambodia departure tax, per person, payable either in local currency or US dollars only. Generally speaking, Thailand requires no visa for stays under 30 days, although you should check your local authority's rules, as these may vary or change. Vietnam departure tax, payable in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) costs US$20 or equivalent dong. Visas for Cambodia (US$20) and Laos (US$30) can be obtained from the embassy or consulate in your respective countries, or upon arrival at the airport. You may encounter delays when seeking a visa on arrival, however. These charges are specifically not included within the cost of this tour. For urgent visas, the embassies may apply an additional surcharge. Please ensure you have two passport sized photos for each country, as these are required; please also include an extra two passport photos for entry to the Angkor ruins in Cambodia as well. Visas to Vietnam are required prior to arrival, as they are generally not available at the airport. The charge is approx. US$65. Please ensure that you obtain thiis well prior to your departure. As a further safeguard, ensure that your passport expiry is valid a full 6 months AFTER your final travelling date. Check the expiry date in your passport NOW, and if you do not have that full six months validity, renew your passport immediately. These charges and requirements are accurate at the time of printing, but may change without notice. Please contact the appropriate websites to re-verify.
A Travel Advisory
Your personal safety is our primary concern. This is a food tour, and consequently operates off the beaten path. When in doubt, we avoid large gatherings of tourists, such as some of the night markets frequented by Western tourists. As such risks are small, however, we leave such visits for you to undertake on your own. Please also discuss with your doctor suitable vaccinations and medications required prior to the tour. |
